We are pleased to announce that we will be having our Teddy Bear Toss, it is the 23rd year of this event in the community. As with many things in 2020 we are having to switch things up a little. This year our volunteers will be collecting the bears at the Sarnia Kinsmen “Drive Thru Santa Claus Parade” which we be at Lambton College on December 5th from 5-8pm. We will have a collection area set up at both entrances to the college. Spectators to the parade will be able to drive by all of the stationary floats at a speed of 10km or less to take in the sight from the comfort of their own vehicle.
After the parade, donations can still be made the week of December 7th by dropping off toys to any of our Teddy Bear Toss locations. Drop off locations include Toys R Us – Lambton Mall, Blackburn Radio – London Road and Lambton Ford located at Indian & Confed.
Up to this year, the Teddy Bear Toss took place annually in December during a Sarnia Sting home game. The first toss took place back in 1998 and since then over 67,300 teddy bears have been donated. Last year we collected 4,159 donations that were donated to local charities including The Salvation Army, Inn of the Good Shepherd, Pathways Children’s Treatment Center, Women’s Pregnancy Crisis Center, Sarnia Kinsmen, Operation Christmas Tree, The Women’s Interval Home, St Joseph’s Hospice, Ohana Landing, Bluewater Health and Neighbourhood Link to help make Christmas a little more exciting for those less fortunate.
Below you’ll find some pictures from previous years that prove how successful this event really is!
A special thanks to our partners in this great event. We look forward to this event yearly and seeing the community come together in support of those that could use the extra support.
